Fire Safety Planning

A plan usually consists of fire escape pathways and we design according to the local fire norms. So that, in case of fire a separate emergency exit route could be used for rescue operation and the route is made easy for access from any point of the building. The design of a construction says how fast the firefighting team can combat and rescue the trapped individuals. This depends on the plan of the staircase which includes length, width and the number of landings it consists of

Hydrants

The primary purpose of fire hydrants is to supply water for suppressing fire. However, they can be used for several secondary purposes like Line Flushing, Testing System and Sewer Cleaning.

A fire hydrant is a visible connection point placed in defined locations for firefighters to tap into a water supply. All buildings, parking areas, roadsides, mines, industrial areas, etc. must have fire hydrants with connection to a water service network. They are designed to provide the water required by firefighters instantly to fight and extinguish a fire. A fire hydrant is basically a pipe with the control of a valve through which water flows from a water main in order to put out a fir

How do hydrants work?

Fire hydrants with a variety of valves and connection points are seen in many places. In the event of a fire breakout, firefighters locate the fire hydrants, connect their hoses and then pump a large volume of pressurized water to put out the fire. A special pentagonal wrench is used to remove the valve cover of the hydrant. Then after attaching the hoses, the firefighters open the valve for the water to flow. They usually have a connection point to hook up a fire hose and a nut or bolt to turn on what will start the flow. Every fire hydrant is essentially just an attachment to the main water line. Underneath that connects the hydrant valve through a pipe called a riser. However, the normal hydrants don’t change the water pressure or flow in any way. They function as valves so firefighters can utilize the already present pressure in the water pipes. While all of this may sound simple the internal mechanics of a fire hydrant are a little more complex and can vary by region

Fire Sprinkler System

TA fire sprinkler system is a simple, but key, active component of a domestic or commercial building’s fire protection system. Installed in ceilings or side walls, the system consists of a water supply, a water distribution piping system and sprinkler heads. The sprinkler discharges water automatically when a fire is detected, though it is not triggered by smoke. It controls or extinguishes the fire, so is both a fire detection and suppression system. Sprinkler systems have been around since the late 19th century and are now extensively used worldwide, with over 40 million sprinkler heads fitted each year

How do Fire sprinkler system work?

This system generally involves water being held under pressure in a network of pipes running through a building. A fire sprinkler head discharges water when the fire has been detected. It comes in assorted designs. Each sprinkler head contains a trigger mechanism, which opens to release water onto the fire. The plug inside the head that holds back the water may be made of Wood’s metal, a mixture of bismuth, lead, tin, and cadmium that melts at a relatively low temperature, or a small glass bulb containing a glycerin-based liquid that expands and shatters when it gets hot, releasing the water. Each sprinkler head activates independently. Only sprinklers above the fire will operate, maximizing water pressure over the fire and reducing fire and water damage to the building.

Fire Water Curtain System

Water curtain system is one of the active fire suppression system (Active fire suppression system means it becomes active only when there is fire). As the name itself defines, if forms a curtain to prevent spread of smoke, heat and flame from fire captured area to no fire area. In the aspect of fire & life safety, compartmentation of building plays an important role. Compartmentation means providing barrier in a large area so that fire, heat and smoke cannot propagate

How do Fire Water Curtain System work?

Water curtain System consists of Reserved water, Dedicated pump, Valves Pipes & Fittings, Water curtain nozzle, Fire detection device etc., Water Curtain Pump is connected to the water curtain nozzle through deluge valve. The pipelines between pump and deluge valve are normally flooded with pressurized water. The pipelines between deluge valve and water curtain nozzle are usually dry. When the fire or smoke is detected in one compartment, corresponding fire detection device located in the premise will send signal to deluge valve to open and subsequently will switch on the pump. Water will be gushing in to the water curtain system and reach those nozzles. These nozzles has special properties of forming a curtain from water preventing smoke, flame and heat to propagate
